Standards of Professional Practice at Soul Creative

This is a simplified summary of the ANZACATA Code of Ethics which are the Standards of Professional Practice adhered to by Soul Creative, and our qualified Art Therapist:

ANZACATA Code of Ethics Summary

  1. Professional Responsibility:

    • Uphold high standards of practice.

    • Respect and understand indigenous cultures.

    • Recognize and oppose discrimination.

    • Maintain cultural sensitivity and diversity awareness.

    • Be responsible in financial dealings and avoid exploitation.

    • Set and maintain professional boundaries.

    • Only provide services within qualified areas.

    • Accurately represent qualifications and services.

    • Engage in regular professional development and supervision.

    • Follow legal requirements and ethical standards in all work settings.

  2. Confidentiality:

    • Respect client confidentiality.

    • Share client information only with necessary professionals or with client consent.

    • Abide by laws regarding technology use and minors.

    • Maintain records securely and dispose of them appropriately.

    • Obtain informed consent for use of client's imagery.

  3. Responsibility to Colleagues:

    • Show respect and cooperation with creative arts therapy colleagues.

    • Refer clients to other services if more appropriate.

    • Acknowledge contributions in research.

    • Address ethical violations through appropriate channels.

  4. General Principles:

    • Focus on client welfare and rights.

    • Provide ethically sound services.

    • Regularly review professional codes to ensure relevance.

    • Abide by the Code as a requirement of ANZACATA membership.

  5. Scope and Accountability:

    • The Code applies to various roles, including clinical practice, research, and education.

    • It is a guiding document for decision-making in uncertain situations.

    • Includes specific standards for conduct as ANZACATA members.

  6. Definitions:

    • Clarifies terms like 'creative arts therapy', 'member', 'client', 'conflict of interest', and more.
